There was a problem with the toilet after we first flushed it. It became unusable. The receptionist arranged for us to move to another room immediately. The receptionist was great, friendly, informative, and nothing was a problem for her. The view from the room was just beautiful. We overlooked a mill race, a path, and beyond that Sudbury meadows (common land) where we could see many birds, dog walkers and cattle foraging and frolicking. To one side was a duck pond and some lovely old cottages. There were outdoor seats and tables with this view also. The old working mill wheel could be seen working while sitting in the restaurant. The hotel had a good atmosphere and nice efficient staff.

The staff, car parking, room was fine and a fan was already in situ. And needed as the corridor and room were quite hot and airless. We were also able to open the window about 6 centimetres, which also helped airflow. We both slept quite well, and the 11 o'clock departure was a kindness The girl on the desk kindly got a sheet for us to sleep under as the duvet was at least tog 10! She was charming and professional. Bearing in mind, you were fully booked, the hotel noise was pleasantly muted and latterly, quiet. The bed was really comfortable.

It's a pleasent practical hotel for an overnight stay passing through. Parking was easy - albeit winter and Sunday night. Reception staff helpful. The room was very well heated, quiet and we slept well. Shower nice newish, clean and hot, not much water pressure - but we were on the third floor. The bar area was very pleasent although the log fire was not lit. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The water wheel is a pleasent distraction. Beer and wine selection normal for price range.

Richard

We spent two cosy nights in a little room partly overlooking the water meadows and right above the river cutting that supplied the old water mill. It was quiet, comfortable and very tastefully decorated and fitted. The "night porter" who greeted us was exceptionally helpful, even though we had been delayed and arrived after 2 a.m. He deserves high praise! Meals and beverages at the hotel were also good quality, speedily delivered and in beautiful surroundings.

Ideal location for a dog-friendly hotel. It's adjacent to Sudbury Water Meadows, a vast expanse of common land. The friendly and welcoming bar has in it the original water wheel still working, which makes quite a feature. Good range of food served throughout the day from breakfast, through brunch and evening meal. Dogs are not allowed in restaurant but staff are happy to serve my breakfast in the bar area so I could keep my dog with me.
